On July 20th, 2023, Padmaja Kumari Parmar attended an Eye Check-Up Camp to support her foundation, Friends of Mewar’s project, Avoidable Blindness Free Villages, in collaboration with long-time partner, Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute.
The project aims to implement a refraction and Cataract surgeries program concentrated in the Mavli Block of the Udaipur district with a population of 90,450. While the project consists of performing numerous activities to deliver eye care programs for those in need, this particular check-up camp was to screen patients for ailments. Based on the results of the screening selected patients are referred to the base hospital in Udaipur for cataract operations or distributed free glasses.
Friends of Mewar is committed to raising funds to support and provide 775 Cataract surgeries, 350 free glasses to children, and 155 free glasses to adults from now through 2025!
